Instant Movie Day: A Video Workshop

Instructor: Vladan Nikolic
(full day or two days)

This workshop introduces students to the fundamentals of making a film using digital video. The course covers digital video camera operation, shooting techniques, digital sound, nonlinear editing, and exporting video to the Web. The three phases of production (preproduction, production, and post-production) will be explored in detail through lectures and hands-on demonstration of shooting and editing one short video. Attendees will work as a team on the production, from initial concept to edited master, and will study the various formats of visual storytelling using digital video.

Vladan Nikolic

Vladan Nikolic is an active filmmaker and producer who has made numerous award-winning feature films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos. He is an associate professor in the Media Studies Department at The New School, where he is currently also the Director of Undergraduate Programs. Mr. Nikolic also teaches digital video production and film producing at NYU, and has taught video and film production at Film/Video Arts in NY and at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA.
